Compagnie d'Avril - Atelier

Since its creation in 2000, Compagnie d'Avril has supported artistic creation in the field of cinema and its transmission to all audiences.

Since 2009, it has made education in the visual arts and cinema a core part of its mission. As an extension of their personal work, the filmmakers and photographers offer workshops to raise awareness of the challenges of the image. The association's activities take place in schools, from primary to secondary level, as well as with special audiences.

From the outset, Compagnie d'Avril has been involved in supporting authors and audiovisual production. These projects are sometimes an extension of image education workshops, or arise from the desire of authors to be supported in the development of their creations.

From 2015 onwards, as an extension of its teaching practices, the association will be carrying out research into image education, its practices and its effects. It is also setting up professional training courses for image practitioners and teachers.

La Cascade

Cinéma La Cascade

La Cascade

La Cascade is an independent cinema created and financed for the most part by the town of Martigues (Bouches-du-Rhône). Located in the heart of the town, it is a cultural player that brings people together. It is conceived as an extension of the public space towards a cultural space, open 7 days a week, offering a predominantly arthouse programme, labelled Jeune Public (Young Audiences), Patrimoine/Répertoire (Heritage/Repertoire), Recherche et Découverte (Research and Discovery). The lobby is open to the public throughout the day.

La Cascade is also a key player in the film industry in the Pays de Martigues region, from production to distribution. The cinema regularly hosts meetings/exchanges/workshops between the public and professionals (directors, producers, speakers, academics, actors, festivals, etc.). Its main missions are aimed at families and renewing audiences between the ages of 20 and 60.

With its status as departmental coordinator, La Cascade cinema develops initiatives to raise awareness of the diversity of cinematographic works, with the ‘Ecole et Cinéma’ schemes, as well as the departmental ‘Sensibilisation à l'image maternelle’ initiative. It is also a partner in the ‘Collège au cinéma’ and ‘Lycéens et apprentis au cinéma’ programmes, and provides annual training for teachers of cinema and audiovisual options for the Académie d'Aix-Marseille. As part of its wider remit, the La Cascade cinema runs practical arts workshops in and out of school. The cinema has been a partner of Cinéma, cent ans de jeunesse since 1995.
